Delegates arrive for Union meeting

Accra, Oct. 13, GNA- Delegates for the 43rd session of the Executive Committee meeting of the African Parliamentary Union have started arriving in Accra.

More than 300 delegates are expected to participate in the 26th conference of the Union, which will follow the committee meeting. The conference, which is slated for 17th-21st of October, has the theme “National Parliament for the Consolidation of Democracy in Africa”.

Thirty-five Speakers of Parliament and members of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Western European Parliament as observers will attend the conference. It is expected that countries from the Southern African zone will establish a strong presence after a long absence from the union.
