Defilement case: Allow us hand over suspect after father’s funeral – Family pleads

The family of the suspect held in the defilement of a 4-year-old girl at Assin Adadientem in the Central Region wants Police to put on hold prosecution pending the conduct of final funeral rites for the suspect’s late father.

The family told Accra-based Joy FM they have pleaded with the police for mercy to allow them finish the funeral of the suspect’s late father taking place this weekend.

According to them, once the process is over they will hand the suspect over to them for interrogation and further investigations.

It is unclear whether the police will grant such plea of the suspect’s family on the back of the President’s high interest in the prosecution, as well as the national outrage following the crime.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, on Friday, October 27 revealed the President is extremely outraged by the defilement case and wants justice to be served the four-year old girl defiled by that community member.
