Defence minister promise to equip Armed Forces

Mr Mark Owen Woyongo, Minister of Defence, on Tuesday, assured the Ghana Armed Forces of the government’s readiness to equip the 48 Engineer Regiment to enable it contribute to the country’s development.

The minister made the call at his maiden visit to the regiment, where he inaugurated the newly constructed Regimental Headquarters building.

Mr Woyongo commended the military for contributing to the development of the country, and assured the unit of more physical jobs to move Ghana forward.

He said, since 1992, the military has helped in maintaining stability and peace.

The minister advised the military to engage in activities such as farming, tree planting, and the building of periphery that would prevent people from encroaching on their lands, as well generating income.

Mr Woyongo encouraged other units to emulate what the regiment has done.
