Ghana’s Minister for Defence, Dr. Omane Boamah, has inaugurated a new Governing Board for the Defence Industries Holding Company (DIHOC), laying out an ambitious roadmap to transform the country into a hub for defence manufacturing and industrial innovation.
The inauguration took place shortly after the 44th Guard Changing Ceremony at the Presidency, and a high-level meeting with President John Dramani Mahama focused on intensifying the fight against illegal mining.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Boamah described the appointment of the new board as a “milestone moment”in Ghana’s push toward economic transformation and national security enhancement.
“Our vision for DIHOC is clear: to make Ghana a hub for defense manufacturing, innovation, and strategic partnerships,” the minister stated.
He highlighted the establishment of a Defence Industrial Complex (DIC) as central to this vision, which aims to create decent, well-paying jobs, enhance local production capacity, and strengthen national self-reliance in defense logistics.
Dr. Boamah also tied the initiative to the broader 24-Hour Economy policy, stressing that the defence sector’s growth will contribute to round-the-clock productivity and drive sustainable job creation.
