Defence Minister: I’ll fly my family out if

Albert Kan Dapaah, Minister of Defence, has stated that he had nothing to lose if war broke out in the country, before, during and after the December elections.

He said if there should be war in the country, he and his family, as well as the other ministers would fly out, while the innocent and the poor faced the consequences.

He, therefore, urged the youth to refrain from activities that would bring conflicts in the country.

The Minister, however, assured Ghanaians that there would be neither war nor anything that would bring political instability in the country, notwithstanding clashes by political parties.

According to him, the Defence Ministry, under his leadership and the Security Task Force, had put measures in place to make sure the country enjoyed its peaceful atmosphere, which has been her hallmark.

“I am assuring you that there will be no war in the country, so don’t harbour any fears, since my ministry has prepared adequately for the elections,” he stressed.

He gave the assurance at Boamang in the Ashanti Region last Tuesday while addressing a durbar, during which he said the law would deal drastically with anyone who would cause mayhem to destabilize the peaceful nature of the country.

Minister Kan Dapaah said the Defence Ministry was more than ready to ensure that the country enjoyed its peace and tranquility.

He warned that his ministry would deal strictly with anyone who would cause mayhem, irrespective of the person’s party affiliation.

“There would be no mercy for supporters of the NPP and other political parties, should they indulge themselves in any catastrophic activities that are intended to bring destruction to the country’s peaceful environment,” he said.
