Defence Minister calls for support for 37 Military Hospital

Accra, Aug. 12, GNA – Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor, Minister of Defence has called on Mr Michel Hadded, Honorary Consul of Ghana in Beirut to use his good offices and contacts to solicit support and funding for the 37 Military Hospital, especially its training college which needs upgrading.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed by Lieutenant Colonel Yao Dzotefe-Mensah, Director for Public Relations at the Ghana Armed Forces Headquarters in Accra.

Dr Addo-Kufuor expressed his appreciation for Mr Haddad’s effort at promoting trade and commerce between Lebanon and Ghana and for assisting Ghanaians resident in Lebanon, especially troops on peacekeeping duties in the country.

Mr Haddad said his visit was to express his appreciation to the government and people of Ghana for appointing him as the Honorary Consul of Ghana.

He said he was also to find ways of improving trade and commerce between Ghana and countries in the Middle East.

He paid tribute to the military for their exemplary performance in Lebanon and also called on the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Seth Obeng.

The statement said Mr Haddad was in the country on a week’s working visit
