Defence Miniser discuss Jewellery venture in Russia

The defence minister, Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor, has discussed with some Russian businessmen the possibility for the establishment of joint ventures in the jewellery industry. He held the discussion in Russia recently during a visit at the invitation of the Russian authorities.

Dr Addo-Kufuor, who led a four-member delegation, also held high level meetings with the head of Rosoboronexport, the Russian state-owned arms sales agency responsible for the export of military hardwares.

The meeting focused on military and technical cooperation between the two countries, such as equipping the Ghana Armed Forces, training of Ghanaian military pilots and the establishment of a training school in Ghana.

These were contained in a release issued in Accra and signed by Colonel EWK Nibo, director of public relations.

The two parties also discussed issues related to the search for ways to the prevention and resolution of conflicts in the West African sub-region.

In that regard, the Russian defence minister, according to the release, praised President Kufuor for his peacekeeping and peacemaking efforts in the sub-region.
