Defectors return to the NDC

Ho, July 4, GNA – Over 130 former members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) said to have jumped ship to the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) prior to the 2004 elections have returned to the NDC fold.

Prominent among them were Mr T.K. Ayi and Mr Manfred Nuku Dei, until now the Regional Chairman and Regional Secretary respectively of the DFP.

The returnees were inducted into the party by Mr. Ludwig Akpene Hlodze, Deputy National Organiser of the NDC.

Mr. Kofi Adams, also a Deputy National Youth Organiser of the NDC said rather than scare away those who have deserted the Party, the NDC would work assiduously to win such people back into its fold. He appealed to the returnees to go all out explain policies and programmes of the NDC government to the people for the party to consolidate power.

Mr. Adams, however advised them never to commit the mistakes of the past but stand firm and work hard to win the confidence of members of the party.

Mr. Modestus Ahiable, Regional Chairman of the party urged its members to remain dedicated and focused because “honesty in words and action are the attributes of true love and dedication”.

He appealed for calm as “there are a lot of opportunities for all in President John Atta Mills’ better Ghana”.

Colonel Cyril Necku (rtd), Deputy Volta Regional Minister said the come-back journey of the deserters was a great honour to the NDC. “With your return, the enemies of the party are beginning to panick,” he observed

Mr. Nuku-Dei who spoke of behalf of the returnees said their departure could simply be described as “an observation mission” and assured them of their commitment to the goals of the NDC. He appealed to all to put aside memories of bitterness and work hard for the sustenance of the party.
