Accra, Feb. 25, GNA – Decentralization of Ghana’s educational system takes-off fully this year with the inauguration of three major structures under the new Education Act (Act 778), Mrs Betty Mould-Iddrisu, Education Minister, said on Friday.
She said the introduction of the three structures namely the National Inspectorate Board, National Teaching Council and National Council on Curriculum Development and Assessment, would decentralize education to inject greater efficiency and effectiveness in educational delivery at all levels.
Mrs Mould-Iddrisu told journalists in Accra after she inaugurated a three unit Junior High School Block for the Rangoon Camp 932″ school nea= r the Ghana Prison Service. The project initiated by the school’s Parent Teacher Association, wa= s later taken over by the Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon, Nii Amassa= h Namoale, who funded it through his share of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) at a cost of GH¢58,749.34. The National Inspectorate Board, National Teaching Council and Nationa= l Council on Curriculum Development and Assessment form part of measures by Government to implement the new Education Act (Act 778 of 2008). Meanwhile, the National Inspector Board, which will ensure that effective teaching and learning take place at all levels of education in th= e country, was inaugurated November last year.
The specific dates for the inaugurations of the other two institutions were not disclosed by the Minister but she indicated they would be done soon.
