Dec polls: Let’s police EC – PPP

A call has been made by the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) to Ghanaians to play their part to ensure the Electoral Commission (EC) successfully administers December’s general elections.

Ghana goes to the polls on December 7 in an election expected to be as closely fought as previous ones, but the Second National Vice Chairperson of the PPP, Belinda Bulley, has urged citizens to do their bit, not least being vigilant, to ensure the polls are pulled off without trouble.

According to her, Ghanaians should not simply “assume that things will be done right” but know that it is their “responsibility” to “monitor” state institutions, such as the Electoral Commission – the ballot’s “referee” – in their work.

“We must help the commission do its work very well…because if we leave them to their own devices, we cannot be sure of the outcome. I want to encourage Ghanaians to know that whatever the Electoral Commission will do, we should monitor and support it with prayers to ensure that it does a good job to forestall violence, dispute, or unnecessary legal action,” she told Accra News on Saturday November 12.

“I believe if we monitor the EC’s work everyone will be pleased with the outcome.”
