Deal ‘severely’ with Delta Force – Major Derek Oduro

Major Derek Oduro, Deputy Minister-designate of Defence, has said the law must deal with members of the Delta Force, a private security arm within the New Patriotic Party, for allegedly attacking a Circuit Court in Kumasi.

According to him, the attack on the court was shameful and an embarrassment to the government, therefore must be condemned.

His comments come after 13 members of the Delta Force escaped from police custody with the help of fellow Delta Force colleagues who had thronged a criminal hearing at a Kumasi Circuit Court.

The 13, who were remanded into prison custody and billed to reappear on 20 April, were whisked away through the backdoor of the judge’s chamber by their supporters.

Commenting on this matter in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM, Major Oduro said: “NPP really worked hard in opposition to win the elections and now that the government is really taking shape and delivering on its promises to Ghanaians, some party members are eroding the gains.

“This action by the Delta Force is very bad and shameful and so we must not condone it. The law must deal with these people. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo told the IGP that crime has no political colour, so he should work for Ghana, not do any political party’s bidding.”
