Ghanaian mobile operators and the National Communication Authority (NCA) agreed that July 1, 2011 will be the deadline for SIM card registration. The process will officially start on July 1, 2010 but some operators decided to trial it from now on. Market leader MTN stated that it is already registering users on a pilot basis in order to assess the challenges they could face from July 2010.
