DCE gives premium to girl child education

Sikaa (B/A), May 5, GNA – Madam Grace Obeng Donkor, Nkoranza North District Chief Executive, has said the Assembly would give high premium to the promotion of girl education to address the problem of teenage pregnancy in the area.

Madam Donkor was addressing separate meetings at Sikaa, Baafi, Kranka and Alataline during her maiden tour of the district. She expressed regret about how because of poverty and parental neglect a number of the youth, most especially the girls, dropped out of school and entered into early marriage. “I will ensure that parents offer the necessary support and encouragement to their girls to pursue higher education so that they would contribute meaningfully towards the development of the district”, Madam Donkor said.

Madam Donkor appealed to traditional rulers, unit committee and Assembly Members to collaborate to initiate self help development programmes to attract support from the government. 05 May 08
