DCE for Kwahu East Assembly sworn-in

Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) have been advised to show respect to traditional institutions in their respective areas to attract the needed support for development.

Mr Julius Debrah, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, gave the advice at the swearing-in ceremony for the Kwahu-East District Chief Executive, Nana Antwi Siaw in Koforidua.

He stressed that already chiefs and traditional authorities exist, and therefore DCEs are not to behave as overlords.

That, he said, would bring about fierce resistance from the chiefs and the traditional authorities, which would not be healthy for development, and advised all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to rather carry out their duties in harmony with all stakeholders.

Nana Antwi Siaw, told GNA in an interview that his focus would be on creating job opportunities in Agriculture for the Youth, to reduce the high rate of youth unemployment in the area.

He said, the area is endowed with vast and good lands that would be good for commercial agriculture, and hoped to win the trust of the youth in getting them to go into Agriculture.
