Aputuogya (Ash), Nov 4 GNA – Mr. Bright Addai Mununkum, District Chief Executive(DCE) for somtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma(BAK), on Tuesday cut the sod to mark the beginning of work on the tarring of a 14.8 kilometer road linking Aputuogya in that District and Kokofu in the Amansie East District.

The project, estimated at over 8.5 billion cedis is being funded by the government of Ghana and would serve nine farming communities in the two districts, is a big relief to inhabitants whose farm produce got rotten due to lack of access to the peri-urban market centres. The beneficiary communities are; Aputuogya, Nkwanta, Abuontem, Oyoko, Adwumam, Adunku, Dedesua, Aduabin and Mensaase among others. Addressing a durbar organised by the chiefs and people of beneficiary communities earlier at Aputuogya, the DCE commended WEB Builders, the contractor for moving to site and commencing work though his mobilisation funds had yet not been paid to him.

He announced that three more roads– Opoku-Ware junction to Apire, Sawuah junction to Sawua, and a section of the road between Foase and Trabuom would be tarred this year. Mr. Addai Mununkum appealed to the people to give the contractor all the needed support and co-operation to enable him complete the work on schedule.

Mr. Joseph Asante, the newly-elected assembly member for Aputuogya, on behalf of the communities thanked the government for giving them a share of the 93national cake.=94 04 Nov.06
