DCE Commends NGOs in Bongo District

Bongo (UE), Dec. 11, GNA – Mr. Francis Asampana, the District Chief Executive for Bongo District, at the weekend commended non-governmental organizations working in the district for complementing the government’s efforts in bringing development to the area.

He made the call at a two-day sensitization and monitoring training workshop on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGOs). Social Enterprise Development (SEND) Foundation of West Africa organized it for 25 participants in the district drawn from the public sector and civil society organizations.

He said a lot of NGOs have played a meaningful role in the area of education, agriculture and health and noted that Bongo District had the greatest number of NGOs as compared to the other districts in the region.

Mr Asampana urged the inhabitants to support the activities of the non-governmental organizations in bringing development to the place. Mr Hor Sidua, a field officer of SEND, said the main reason for training people for the monitoring of the MDGOs was to put checks in place to ensure that the aims of the MDGOs were achieved.
