Alhaji Ibrahim Gariba, the Tano South District Imam, has commended Mr Zakari Bukari Anaaba, the Tano South District Chief Executive, for his humility, diligence and devotion to duty.
Alhaji Gariba said he had led the Muslim Community in the area for over 40 years, and that when he formed the Association of Imams in 2,000, Mr Anaaba was their first secretary and by dint of hard work and devotion, he had excelled in all endeavours, crowning his achievements with becoming the first gentleman of the District.
The Imam made the commendation in an interview with the Ghana News Agency during the celebration of the Eid-ul-Fitr at Bechem.
He said Mr Anaaba was a living testimony of God’s faithfulness to all who diligently sought Him.
“This shows that when we wait upon the Almighty God in prayers and serve Him in humility and diligence, He blesses us, and makes us a blessing to many,” he said.
He pointed out that Mr Anaaba was not only a blessing to the Muslim community, but to the district and the nation as a whole, adding that his commitment to the development of the area won him the Best DCE Award in 2014.
The Imam, therefore, urged people in the area, especially the youth, to emulate the shining example of the DCE, and exhibit a high sense of patriotism to promote the growth and development of the country.
Nana Innusa Salifu, the Bechem Zongo Chief, urged Ghanaians not to depend on government alone for the progress of their communities, but to also take the initiative to engage in self-help projects to improve their living standards.
Nana Salifu advised the Zongo youth to work hard to develop their communities, and to desist from allowing themselves to be used by politicians to foment trouble, especially during elections.
“As the 2016 general election draws closer, discipline yourselves and never allow any politician to use you to cause trouble in any part of the country. Let’s show to the world that our religion truly stands for peace,” he admonished.
