DCE cautions traders on re-denomination exercise

Dormaa Ahenkro (B/A), May 21, GNA – Squadron Leader Ben Anane Asamoah, Dormaa District Chief Executive, has cautioned traders not to “hide behind” the re-denomination exercise to arbitrarily increase the prices of their goods.

Speaking on “The role of society to ensure a smooth implementation of the exercise” at Dormaa Ahenkro, the DCE explained that the basic objective of the exercise was to reduce the quantum of money used in business transactions and not to reduce its value.

“It would be morally unjustifiable for any trader to cash in on the change and exploit it to their advantage”, Squadron Leader Asamoah added.

He said though government had no intention to set up a task force to monitor the exercise, it would be prudent for Ghanaians to lend their support for the successful implementation of government policies. The DCE appealed to schools, churches, mosques and identifiable organizations in the district to join the campaign towards the exercise to enable it to take off smoothly as scheduled.

Squadron Leader Asamoah commended the district office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and staff of the various banks in the district for sustaining the public education campaign.
