Bechem (B/A), Oct. 5, GNA – Mr Nicholas Anane-Adjei, Tano District Chief Executive, has cautioned teachers in basic schools in the district not to meddle their classroom work with partisan politics, as violators would not be spared.
He said since teachers were paid with taxpayers’ money, they should concentrate on the training of the children entrusted to their care for a desired result.
Mr Anane-Adjei was speaking at a meeting with head-teachers of basic schools during which last year’s basic education certificate examination (BECE) results were reviewed.
He appealed to the school heads to make do with the few teachers available as the result of the vacuum created by the absence of those on study leave, a situation that had created problems in most schools. Mr Anane-Adjei asked the heads to exhibit discipline, be regular and punctual in school to enable the students to emulate them for success.
The Tano District Director of Education, Miss Eronica Essuman Nelson expressed her gratitude to the DCE for being sensitive to the plight of teachers.
She promised of better results in future but appealed to the DCE for incentives to those schools that scored 100 per cent passes in the BECE.
