DCE calls for commitment of assembly members

Wenchi, April 28, GNA – Mr Joe Danquah, the acting Wenchi District Chief Executive, has called for the commitment and active involvement of assembly members in revenue mobilization.

He was addressing a one-day meeting of the assembly at Wenchi. Mr Danquah, also MP for the area, said the assembly had collected 153,135,000 cedis within the first three months of the year out of the annual estimated revenue of 1,020,900,000, cedis. He said the assembly had adopted certain measures aimed at helping to improve revenue collection.

The acting DCE said the assembly was spending 4.1 billion cedis on the construction of a three-unit classroom block, office, store and a three-seat KVIP place of convenience.

The assembly has provided three-unit urinals for 12 communities in the district, an insurance office at Wenchi and rehabilitated a block of six classrooms, office and store and a four-seat KVIP at Wurompo. Mr Danquah said 109 boreholes were being built in the district. The assembly failed to elect a Presiding Member for the fifth time.
