DCE bans Fulanis after murder

The Sekyere Afram-Plains District Assembly in the Ashanti Region has banned all cattle herders of Fulani descent from travelling through the area with their animals after 6pm.

This follows the killing of a Dagarti man in cold blood by four Fulanis last Saturday in one of the communities in the district.

Alhaji Fuseini Donko, District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, who announced this yesterday on Hello Fm in Kumasi, said the assailants struck the deceased Yaw aka Balam Musah, who was taking his supper from behind with cutlass.

The Fulani men also inflicted multiple cutlass wounds on the victim’s wife after they saw her running from the scene, the DCE added.

They took away proceeds of 80 bags of charcoal sold earlier by the deceased who also offered them food prior to his callous murder.

Fuseini Donko disclosed that one of the four men was arrested by the police at Agogo while efforts were underway to arrest the three suspects.

He explained that the ban, which was put in place by the District Security Council, which he heads, was to avert an upheaval in the area.

He called on the people to remain calm, stressing that the police had intensified plans to arrest the killers and bring them to book.
