SSV Jahn Regensburg have made a fresh addition to their attacking line-up ahead of the 2025/26 season, signing 22-year-old winger Davis Asante from Werder Bremen II.
The pacey and versatile forward, who has signed a contract through to 2027, arrives from Bremen’s reserve side and is seen as a key piece in Regensburg’s efforts to rebuild and push forward in Germany’s third division.
Born and raised in Bremen, Asante is a product of Werder’s youth academy and has previously represented Germany at U16 level. Despite a setback in 2023, when Werder Bremen II dropped into the fifth-tier Bremenliga, Asante played a pivotal role in their immediate return, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists in just 14 games. His impact continued last season with seven more goal contributions in the Regionalliga Nord.
Speaking about his move south to Bavaria, Asante said: “I’m very happy to be in Regensburg now and will do everything I can to ensure we have a successful future here. SSV Jahn is a family-oriented club whose values align very well with mine. The discussions with Achim Beierlorzer and the new coach Michael Wimmer gave me a good feeling and convinced me that I’m in the right place.”
Achim Beierlorzer, SSV Jahn’s Sporting Director, praised the club’s latest signing: “With Davis Asante, we have acquired a fast, technically skilled, and talented player who, at 22, now wants to take the next step in his development. His versatility in attack gives us more options, and we’re excited to support his growth in the coming months.”
Asante will reunite in Regensburg with former teammate Dejan Galjen, with whom he played during his time in Bremen. The move also marks a new chapter in Asante’s journey as he seeks to prove himself at senior professional level and help Jahn push for promotion.
