Daniel Kodie Joins Hearts of Oak’s Senior Coaching Staff After Inspirational Comeback

Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Daniel Kodie has been promoted to the senior team’s coaching staff, marking a heartwarming milestone in a journey defined by resilience, loyalty, and a deep love for the club.

The club confirmed the move in an official statement on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, announcing that Kodie will now serve as Assistant Welfare Manager to Henry Martey with the Phobians’ first team.

Kodie’s career trajectory is one that resonates with both tragedy and triumph. The once-promising midfielder, who joined the Phobians from Liberty Professionals, saw his playing days abruptly halted by a career-threatening injury. But in a rare show of club-player loyalty, Hearts of Oak not only funded his surgery in South Africa but also supported his full rehabilitation.

Once back on his feet, Kodie didn’t walk away from football. Instead, he turned to mentoring, taking on a backroom role at Auroras FC, the club’s youth setup. There, he served as Assistant Welfare Manager and a trusted technical hand, assisting in the development of young talents by sharing tactical insights drawn from his own playing experience.

Now, the club says Kodie’s dedication has earned him a deserved spot on the senior staff.

“His promotion to the senior team is a testament to his unwavering commitment, discipline, and deep understanding of the club’s values,” the statement read.

Hearts of Oak have already resumed pre-season training at Pobiman, where Kodie has officially begun his duties ahead of the 2025/26 football season.
