Dangerous Signals From Volta

Reports emanating from the Volta Region speak of intimidation and harassment of PNC candidates in some parts of the region. The District Chief Executive and District Electoral Officer in North Tongu in the presence of an unknown state official are alleged to have ordered Olivia Akua Kpo to withdraw her candidature for the December polls.

This, they said was based on the instructions of David Kanga, the deputy chairman of the Electoral Commission.

From the Keta area according to a release signed by Gabriel Pwamang General Secretary of the party,, their candidate, Ferdinand Fiawoo also known as Picolo, a popular restaurant operator has been ordered to remove his posters by the District Chief Executive through the District Police Commander. The man refused to have only his posters removed since there are other political party posters posted all over the place. The District Chief Executive went ahead and removed the posters leaving those of the NDC even though officials of the Electoral Commission had advised her to let them stay. PNC said in the Ho East constituency another candidate of the party, Kathryn Susan Sefakor Akatey has suffered arm-twisting tactics by agents of the NDC.
