Danger! Watch how the Adomi Bridge-Akwamufie road caved in

A section of the main road that links Akwamufie from the Adomi Bridge in the Eastern Region has caved in, rendering the road unmotorable.

The asphalt on that section of the road, which is eight kilometres from the monumental bridge and adjoins the Volta River, started collapsing on November 12 but authorities failed to act leading to its eventual cave in on November 20.

Commuters plying the road at the time were cut off, forcing them to use a rather long distance alternative road from Juapong through some communities to Akwamufie.

The cause of the collapse of the road is not immediately known but some residents blame it on a burst pipeline beneath the road.

TV3’s Akosua Adjei-Sono reports the only way to get in and out of the community now is mostly by river transport on the volta River.
