Danger: Sakumono beach street lights turn death traps

Street lights along the Sakumono–Nungua stretch are becoming death traps.

The lamp posts, which line that stretch of road have sorely rusted and now hanging loosely.

The corrosive power of the Sea has eaten away the strength of the metal posts leaving them weak and fragile.

Starr News’ Osei-Owusu Amankwaah who visited the location reported that the rusty posts could cause accidents if the agencies responsible fail to act quickly.

Some Motorists have questioned the wisdom in mounting metal lamp posts along a stretch of road in a salty environment.

Already, about 10 of the poles have fallen and can be seen lying along the street.

Residents say authorities appear insensitive to several appeals to pull down the poles.
