Damning Maputo report must be investigated – Hon. Asiamah

Speaker of Parliament Doe Adzaho has openly described as damning, the findings of a report presented by the committee of enquiry on the 2011 All African games in Maputo, Mozambique.

The ministry, which allegedly overspent more than four times its budget for 2012, is accused of massive corruption as far as Ghana’s participation in the All Africa Games is concerned.

It was revealed in Parliament on Tuesday that the ministry spent 240.9 million cedis instead of the 54.2 million cedis allotted to it in 2012.

The issue came to light when minority MP for Atwima Mponua who doubles as the ranking member on the committee on Youth, Sports and Culture Hon. Isaac Asiamah asked the speaker to summon the ministry to the House to defend its expenditure.

“This is over expenditure; this is total financial indiscipline which must not be condoned in this house…it is dangerous” Hon. Isaac Asiamah said adding that “this is a very damaging and damning report”.

“This is corruption and it should be fought.”
