Damba festival canceled over security concerns

The Abudu Royal gate in Dagbon is up in arms against the Northern regional Security Council over the cancellation of today’s Damba festival.

The Abudu’s had planned to climax the celebration today, Wednesday December 30 and Thursday despite a last minute cancellation by the Regent.

But the Regional Security Council has issued a directive at the last minute to stop the celebration by the Abudus.

Starr News has learnt that security has also been beefed up in the area to ensure compliance.

Starr News’ correspondent Tanko Eliasu reports that the development is causing tension in the area since the festival means a lot to the people.
