“Daily Guide” Newspaper Lied – NMC

Accra April 21, GNA – The National Media Commission (NMC) on Wednesday said, “the issue of the ‘revocation’ of the appointment of the Director- General, GBC is not before the Commission and the Commission is not considering it”.

A statement issued in Accra on Wednesday and signed by Mr Wilson Kusi-Atansah, Chairman of NMC, said the issue of revoking the appointment of Ms Eva Lokko was false and described publications in the Tuesday April 20,edition of “The Statesman” and April 21, edition of “The Daily Guide” which stated that “the NMC is about to revoke the appointment of the Director General of GBC for failing to perform to expectation,” as untrue.

The Commission, therefore, asked media practitioners to crosscheck their stories before publication.

The statement, however, stated that the Board of Directors of GBC had recommended to the Commission the termination of the appointment of Mr Kenneth Amankwah, Deputy Director-General of the Corporation, citing various reasons.

“Professional management imperatives require that we respect and cooperate with the Board that we have duly constituted and we cannot side step the Board, for whatever reasons and revoke the appointment of the Director General,” the statement said.
