“BNI quiz two over bribery…Tribunal chairman also interviewed”, is the banner headline of the Graphic. The story says two members of an Acra Regional Tribunal are being investigated by the security agencies for their alleged involvement in a bribery case. The supects (names withheld), were arrested on suspicion of bribery involving an undisclosed large sum of money in foreign currency in the course of their duties. The Graphic says the two have now been granted bail, were interrogated by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI). The paer says the chairman of the tribunal, Lt-Col. Mensah Brown (rtd), is said to have been interviewed on the issue with the permission of the Chief Justice. It says sources close to the Judicial Service said the two suspects, together with their court clerk, one Quartey, allegedly accepted the money to influence the granting of bail to an accused, a Nigerian housewife, who is standing trial for drug-related offences at the Regional Tribunal.
