Daddy Lumba’s First Wife Returns from Germany to Mourn with Family

Akosua Serwaa, the first wife of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, arrived in Ghana from Germany to join the bereaved family in mourning his passing.

She was spotted at the musician’s East Legon residence on Friday, August 1, clad in full black mourning attire — a black kaba and skirt with a matching head wrap — as she joined family members, friends, and sympathisers in paying tribute to the man she shared over three decades of marriage with.

Madam Serwaa, who had been living in Germany prior to Lumba’s passing, is reported to have landed in Ghana on the night of Thursday, July 31. Her first public appearance came the following morning when she visited the family house.

She was accompanied by businessman and long-time friend of the late singer, Kennedy Agyapong, CEO of Kenpong Travel and Tours, who has maintained close ties with both Madam Serwaa and the Lumba family.

The late musician, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away in the early hours of Saturday, July 26, after a brief illness. His death was formally announced in a statement issued by his legal representative, Fati Ali Yallah, on behalf of the family.

Until his death, Daddy Lumba had been living with his current wife, Priscilla Ofori Atta, popularly known as Odo Broni. The appearance of Akosua Serwaa has brought another layer of emotion to the ongoing period of mourning, as fans reflect on the various phases of the music icon’s life.

The visit underscores the depth of personal and familial bonds that existed beyond the spotlight and offers a reminder of the quiet sacrifices made by those who stood by the late legend through his rise to fame and eventual health struggles.
