Dachio chief to release land for development.

Dachio (U/E), March 23, GNA- The Chief of Dachio near Bolgtanga in the Upper East Region, Naba Thomas Adongo Akaliga the II, have advised his people to think about how to bring development into the area to attract government support.

This, he said would improve the standard of living and also hinted that he would consult his elders to enable them release enough land for government development projects such as hospitals, community centre and bungalows for workers in the region.

Naba Akaliga disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Dachio at the weekend.

He appealed to the government, the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly and NGOs in the region to provide the people with dams, boreholes and clad the pavilions of the Dachio Primary and Junior Secondary Schools so that their children can use the classrooms during the rains.

An opinion leader of the area, Mr. Thomas Awuni expressed concern about the feasibility study conducted for the construction of a dam in the area and said the site earmarked for the dam is not conducive.

He explained that the site is in the middle of the community and thus would pose danger to the life of children in the area, adding that, there are other areas suitable for the construction of that dam.
