Accra, Dec. 12, GNA – Dr Karl Laryea, Chief Executive Officer of Knights Transfer of Technologies, a Czech-based technological entity, has called for effective collaboration with Ghana to enable his outfit to transfer technology to the country.
He said: “We will be happy to partner government in the areas of agro- processing and the manufacturing sector including the production of agricultural inputs such as solar panels and fertiliser plants.” Dr Laryea was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the sidelines of the Czech-Ghana Trade and Investment Forum recently held in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic.
He said his company had embarked on similar programmes since 2004, which paved the way for the posting of engineers and technicians from the Czech Republic to Ghana to train their counterparts at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture on the assembling of tractors.
Dr Laryea said such partnerships were not only cost- effective, but had the potential of creating jobs for numerous people in Ghana through the industries and plants likely to be established. He said the Knights Transfer of Technologies was on the verge of accessing adequate funds from the Czech Export Bank for the venture in Ghana and called on the government of Ghana to demonstrate commitment to facilitate the efforts to relieve the country from the perennial importation goods and services.
Dr Laryea said countries such as Nigeria, Benin, and Angola were already implementing similar programmes to accelerate technological and mechanical know-how in agricultural production and processing. He said Ghana could do the same to promote the “Better Ghana Agenda”.
He said as part of the Ghana-Czech partnership, his outfit had already acquired a 58-acre of land to embark on a stone quarry company which would provide jobs for Ghanaians.
“We are approaching this quarry company with Czech Technology which is not only going to provide jobs for Ghanaians, but would also be seen as the most environmental friendly quarry in the country.” He said his company was working with the Roads and Highways Ministry to build more than 200 steel bridges with simple Czech Technology, which was cost effective and ultra-modern in outlook.
