Cyber Security Authority boss suspended over use of military bodyguard

The Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, has been suspended following allegations of unauthorized use of military personnel as his personal bodyguard.

This comes a few days after the Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, announced the withdrawal of military protection for some individuals, including former ministers and civilians.

Sources indicate that a formal complaint from the Office of the President triggered the Minister for Communications to take action.

In response, a suspension directive was issued to pave the way for a thorough investigation into the alleged misconduct.

A letter dated July 15, 2025, and signed by Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, reportedly disapproved of Mr. Agbeti’s actions.

The letter described his use of a uniformed soldier as a bodyguard as “inappropriate,” noting that the incident had caused embarrassment to the government.

Mr. Agbeti has since been handed a two-week suspension to allow for a full investigation and to determine whether further disciplinary measures are warranted.
