The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has set ablaze two sacks of Indian hemp weighing about 60 kilograms, impounded by personnel of the service at Tumu in February.
Briefing the media at the burning site, Mr. Ben Suuri, the Sector Commander said his men impounded the stuff near the Tumu market while on patrol duties along the Tumu-Kasana road where the suspect was spotted.
He said the suspect, who was carrying the two sacks of Indian hemp on his motor bike, abandoned it and escaped.
Mr. Suuri appealed to the public to assist officials of the service with relevant information that would enable them to arrest all those engaged in such illegal trade.
Officers from the police, the Fire Service, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Environmental Health Department witnessed the burning of the substance.**
