Custom Division urges clients to use approved entry points

Koforidua, Feb. 20, GNA – Mr Ben Suuri, the Eastern Regional Director of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, has entreated clients to use approved country entry points to pay appropriate duties on their goods for the development of the nation. “It is better to pass through the right channels so as not to have a= ny problem with law enforcement agencies” he said.

Mr Suuri was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Koforidua on Friday. He said last year was a successful year for the Division, adding that the region exceeded its target by a respectable percentage but would not disclose the exact figures.

Mr Suuri indicated that last year’s success could largely be attribu= ted to the vigilance and hard working spirit on the part of customs’ workers. He, however, noted that some of the problems the region faced were insufficient staff and logistics, adding that most of their vehicles had broken down and moreover, processes of auctioning seized cars had been slow= .. He said that situation could not enable them to gather sufficient fund= s to embark on many operations in the year. Mr Suuri admonished all clients to be cooperative this year so as to bring a peaceful relationship between them and the Customs officers 20 Feb. 11
