Currency dealer crushed to death

Amedzro, alias Reggae, 52, a currency dealer, was crushed to death last weekend by the rear tyres of a truck at the Ghana-Togo border at Aflao.

A Police source told the GNA that the deceased, a resident of Aflao, returned around 0700 hours, from a business meeting with his principals in Lome and about to start business when the accident happened.

The source said the Nigerian registered articulated truck being driven by one Umaru Maliki, 40, had arrived from Elubo en-route Nigeria and was heading to the Customs Duty yard when it hit Amedzro.

Shouts of bystanders were too late to prevent the unfortunate incident.

The body has since been deposited at the Saint Anthony’s Hospital morgue at Dzodze, while Maliki is in custody helping in investigations.
