Curfew imposed on troubled Bunkpurugu

Curfew has been imposed on Bunkpurugu in the Northern region of Ghana following the death of two people in a chieftaincy clash over the weekend.

According to the Minister of Interior, the curfew hours are from 4pm to 6am and takes immediate effect.

Interior Minister Mark Woyongo said the curfew is to forestall further clashes since people want to hard behind darkness to perpetrate wrongdoings.

About 20 houses were torched during the melee rendering several indigenes homeless.

The chieftaincy brawl was between the Jamong and the Jafog clans. The body of the deceased have been deposited at the Baptist Medical Centre (BMC) in Nalerigu.
