Cuban health personnel arrive in Central Region

A team of 23 Cuban health personnel including 10 specialist doctors, nurses and laboratory and x-ray technicians posted to the Central Region, have called on the Deputy Regional Minister, Mr Hopnas Jehu-Appiah, at Cape Coast.

Members of the team, who would be working mainly at the Cape Coast Regional Hospital for two years were part of the group, which arrived in the country recently to assist in health care delivery. Mr Jehu-Appiah expressed the readiness of the Regional Co-ordinating Council to assist to make their duty tour successful.

Dr. Elias Sory, Regional Director of Health Services, said certain sections of the Hospital such as the Intensive Care Unit, which had been closed for lack of specialists, will now become operational with the posting of the Cubans. Dr. Francisco Barrios Crespo, an orthopaedic specialist and leader of the team, pledged the readiness of the Cubans to help in promoting health care delivery.
