Cross-border activities slumped during holidays

Aflao (V/R), Jan 2, GNA – The hustle and bustle across the Ghana – Togo Border at Aflao ebbed considerably during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Trickles of travellers were crossing the frontier to and from Aflao and Lome with the normally busy main street running from Aflao into Lome virtually bereft of its congested human and vehicular traffic. Ghanaian and Togolese Immigration and Customs personnel told the Ghana News Agency (GNA), that they expected business to pick up in two weeks time when businessmen and women would have begun replenishing their stock of goods for the Easter.

Security remained on low profile, even though the presence of a detachment of Ghanaian Soldiers was very conspicuous at Aflao. It has been stationed there to deter and deal with criminal activities.
