Criminals taking advantage of change in gov’t – Rev. Asante

The Chairman of the National Peace Council Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante believes criminals are taking advantage of a change in government to engage in various forms of nefarious activities.

He has therefore called on security agencies in the country to step up their duties and nib such acts in the bud emphasizing that they cannot sit on unconcerned whilst these faceless individuals take the country to ransom.

On the Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Lantam Papanko, be bemoaned the series of violent and criminal activities that have characterized the announcement of election results in the country adding that the open show of gangsterism must not be allowed to persist.

“These persons involved in snatching of toll booths must be tagged and treated as criminals who are breaking the laws of the country and must be dealt with in accordance with the its prescriptions. The police should go after them immediately. There is no need to negotiate with them because they are trying to plunge this country into an anarchistic situation”, he stated.

According to him, those engaged in such acts must understand the president was elected to be a president of a nation and not a political party and therefore no one has the right over the other.

“Respect every individual even though some political parties are alleged to be involved”
