Kasoa (C/R), July 29, GNA- The Kasoa District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Charles Adalong on Monday said, night patrol duties and some security measures put in place by the police had helped to reduce crime in the district. Mr Adalong told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that between January and June 2003, 927 criminal cases were recorded but in the same period this year, 764 cases were recorded.
He mentioned some of the cases as stealing, threats, assaults and rapes. The district recorded two armed robbery cases each in 2003 and 2004 but there had not been any murder case.
The District Commander said the increasing population of Kasoa required more police personnel and even more than one police station but mentioned lack of accommodation as the major problem hindering the posting of more personnel to the area.
Mr Adalong called for a strong patrol vehicle since the present one was not strong enough to reach certain areas.
He appealed to the Ghana Telecom (GT) to extend telephone facilities to Senya Beraku for onward transmission to Kasoa.
