Dr Charles Ntiamoah Takyi, Medical Officer in-charge of the Hospital, appealed to teachers, health workers and journalists to intensify education on good sanitation.

Dr Takyi said a major problem facing the nation was how to dispose of filth, which was the cause of most diseases.

He said when the people were made to appreciate good personal and environmental sanitation it would go a long way in reducing the huge medical expenditure on the Health Insurance Schemes in the districts. Dr Takyi appealed to politicians not to make the people to believe that the National Health Insurance Scheme was the panacea to their health problems.

The Medical Officer appealed to the poor to embrace the Scheme and to pay their premium.

He appealed to the premium collectors to consider the plight of the poor and to make special arrangements for the collection of their contributions to relieve them of their financial burden. 09 Sept 05
