Create level field for all aspiring candidates

Gomoa Ankamu (C/R), May 10, GNA – Constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been urged to create a level field for all those who want to contest the party’s parliamentary primaries. Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, National Organiser of the party, who made the call cautioned the executives against throwing their weight behind their favourites.

“Such behaviour can create divisions in the party,” Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said when he addressed Gomoa West constituency and polling station executives of the party at Gomoa Ankamu as part of a week-long outreach programme in the Central Region.

The NDC National Organiser advised the executives to ensure that the party’s front in the constituencies and the polling stations were not divided so that they could work as a team to ensure a success in 2008 general elections.

He urged them to bear with the national executives if some of logistics needed were not forthcoming and adopt less cost effective but efficient campaign strategies to get to the electorate. “The people are yearning for the return of NDC to power, and we need to be in close contact with them to ensure that their aspirations manifest, come 2008,” Mr Ofosu-Ampofo stated. Mr Jacob Allotey, Central Regional Propaganda Secretary gave the assurance that the party would not repeat the mistake when it took for granted that people of the region were behind Professor J.E.A. Mills and would vote for him in the previous general election and said; “this time round we are embarking on a vigorous and sustained campaign in the region.”

Professor Samuel Mbreye Quartey, the Constituency Chairman advised them to be abreast with the party’s programmes and policies to enable them to counter any misinformation being spread about its leadership. “Seek information about the party from the right sources and do not get confused about the false things the party’s detractors peddle,” Prof Quartey advised.

Earlier, similar meeting had been held by Mr Ofosu-Ampofo and his team at Gomoa Nyanyano Kakraba in the East Constituency.
