CPP youth rally support for Nylander

Accra, July 27, GNA – Supporters of National Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Mr. Ladi Nylander, have embarked on a demonstration in Accra, urging the party’s executives and delegates to retain him “to continue his good works”.

Dressed in the party’s paraphernalia, the demonstrators, mainly the youth, said Mr Nylander also needed the support of the rank and file of the CPP to boost the image of the party, a statement from the organisers received by the GNA in Accra on Thursday indicated.

The demonstrators said Mr Nylander had shown over the years that he was capable of effectively handling the affairs of the party.

Addressing journalists on behalf of the demonstrators, the CPP’s former Parliamentary candidate for Odododiodioo, Mr Emmanuel Nii Odoi, said: “The good works our incumbent National Chairman embarked on in order to prepare the party for victory in 2012 general elections should be encouraged.”

He urged the party executives to rally support for Mr Nylander saying, “since he assumed the chairmanship position, he has done so much to revamp the party at all levels and today the youth of Ghana feel proud to associate themselves with the CPP.

“The interest of this demonstration is to ensure that the party elects right people like Mr Ladi Nylander into positions so that we develop and win power for Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s development agenda to be realized.”

Past governments, Nii Odoi observed, had failed Ghanaians, noting that the CPP needed vibrant personalities to lead it to capture power in the 2012 general elections to champion the socio-economic development of Ghanaians.

Nii Odoi said the incumbent National Chairman had impeccable political credentials, stressing that his business and political track records had made the CPP attractive to both the young and old.
