CPP sets April 15 for biometric registration

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has set April 15 as the date to kick start a pilot biometric registration of all its members onto a database for easy mobilisation to help them to possibly win the 2016 elections.

Mr Iddisah Mumuni, Northern Regional Secretary of the party, told the GNA in Tamale on Monday that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party took the decision at the end of its NEC meeting in Tamale held last Saturday.

“We have set next week, possibly April 15 as the date to kick start pilot biometric registration of all our members onto a biometric database system and issue them with identity (ID) cards for easy mobilisation of members”, he said.

Mr Mumuni said the pilot registration was expected to end in July which would be followed immediately by polling station elections in August and expressed the hope that all would be well with the party to win election 2016.

He said after the completion of the polling and constituency elections, regional elections would also take off in September through to December which would now pave way for the Party’s National Delegates’ Congress to elect a flag-bearer in 2015.

Mr Mumuni said there was a glimmer of hope for the party to increase its electoral fortunes and possibly win the 2016 elections.

He said the NDC under President John Dramani Mahama has lost track of improving the living conditions of Ghanaians and that the only alternative party to salvage Ghanaians from the “Current economic doldrums” was the CPP.

The CPP last Saturday organised its National Executive (NEC) meeting in Tamale where it announced it was going to register all its members onto a biometric database system and issue them with biometric identity cards to facilitate easy identification.

The move according to the party was to establish a credible database of true members of the party as well as improve the collection of membership dues to support party activities.
