CPP presidential aspirants urged to be cautious

Kumasi, Sept. 14, GNA- Mr Akwasi Bosompem, who is aspiring to be the Regional Secretary of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) in Ashanti, has appealed to the presidential aspirants of the party to be very cautious and fair in their statements and utterances in order not to inflame passion or create divisions in the party.

He also urged all members seeking various positions in the party to remain united after the party’s national congress.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Friday, Mr Bosompem said the practice where certain party members become peeved and withdraw their commitment, support and resources from the party simply because they lost in the primaries should be a thing of the past.

He said there should be unity in diversity in the party to enable it to make significant inroads towards the 2008 elections.

On why he should be elected as the regional secretary of the party, Mr Bosompem said his activities within the CPP and the political environment in the region as a whole made him the right person to help transform the Nkrumaist tradition.

He said the decision to contest for the position was as a result of his persistent readiness and love to serve the party, adding that, when elected, he would lobby for resources, shape and uplift the CPP in the Ashanti region.

He said his experience as the secretary of the CPP youth league in Ashanti had offered him the opportunity to identify basic problems facing the party in the region.

Mr Bosompem pointed out that, his election would enable him to popularise the objectives and policies of the party to win the 2008 elections.

He said Dr Nkrumah used the youth to make remarkable achievements in Ghana, adding that, one must be practically groomed in and understand the CPPs ideological vision for the expected results. Mr Bosompem said he had those qualities and urged delegates to the regional congress to elect him to help transform the party.
