CPP pays filing fee for all its candidates

Accra, Oct. 19, GNA – The National Secretariat of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) announced on Tuesday that it had deposited a bank draft of 135 million cedis with the Electoral Commission (EC) as payment of filing fee on behalf of all its approved Presidential and Parliamentary Candidates.
A statement signed by Dr Nii Noi Dowuona, General Secretary, said all its approved candidates should take note of this payment and produce their letters of introduction issued by the General Secretary to officials of the EC.
The EC would on Wednesday October 20 and Thursday October 21, 2004 receive nomination papers of presidential and parliamentary candidates for Election 2004 slated for December 7 2004.
It said the Party’s Flag Bearer, Mr George Aggudey with his running mate Mr Bright Ameyaw would file their nomination papers on Thursday. “The CPP appeals to all party candidates to cooperate with officials of the Electoral Commission to ensure success of the filing of nominations,” it said.
“Candidates must follow laid down procedures to address any problems that may arise during the course of the two-day exercise.”
