CPP opens nominations today

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) is opening nominations today, Monday, December 28, for interested members to contest its presidential and parliamentary primaries slated for next year.

The political party to gain independence for Ghana will elect its 2016 candidates – for the general and parliamentary elections – at a congress, scheduled tentatively for January.

Aspirants have 14 days within which to pick forms to contest the primaries.

Former Presidential Candidate Dr Abu Sakara Forster is expected to pick forms within the period to lead the party for a second time in elections.

Other members who have expressed interest to contest the presidential primary are former chair and Member of Parliament, Samia Yaba Nkrumah, who is also daughter of the Founder of the party, and legal practitioner Bright Akwetey.

The party currently has only one Member of Parliament – Moses Amadu Yahaya, who won a by-election in Kumbungu Constituency.
