CPP Leadership urged to call Nduom’s group to order

Koforidua, Feb. 4, GNA – The Akropong Constituency branch of the Conventions People’s Party (CPP) has called on the Leadership of the Party to call to order a group of high-ranking members of the Party including the Minister of Energy, Dr Paa Kwesi Ndoum, for flouting the Party’s Constitution and principles.

It urged the Leadership to “pick up the whip under our constitution and conventions to keep him in line or to put him before the appropriate disciplinary committee and enforce whatever sanctions that may be imposed on him.”

In a statement issued in Koforidua on Wednesday, by the Branch and signed by its Secretary, Mr S.K. Asare Yeboah, it accused Dr Ndoum and his “Parliamentary Action Group”(PAG) of peddling what the Branch said it regarded as divulging a “party secret strategy in the open as a campaign message to spoil the Party’s (electoral) chances.”

It said the: “CPP is currently the most credible alternative to steer the nation’s affairs and the NPP (New Patriotic Party) is aware of it”, adding; “the NPP’s biggest fear is not the dying NDC but the never ending CPP”.

The statement reminded Dr Ndoum and the PAG that the CPP would never make a policy and announce it publicly that it would not field a presidential candidate and said it was high time the Party enforced the decisions of its Congress and separated itself from PAG.

It stated that most party supporters had doubts about Dr Ndoum’s loyalty and respect for the ideals of Dr Kwame Nkrumah and the CPP. The statement asked the Party’s Leadership to let Dr Ndoum and his colleagues to know that “their freedom to express opinion was limited by the fact that all CPP members have agreed to put up a presidential candidate in the person of Mr George Aguddey to contest the Castle seat, period”.

It said it was the duty of members, who elected Mr Aggudey, to sell him and the Party’s manifesto to the electorate.
